Coimbra | Legal Your new company Company in the medical devices sector. Your new role Act as a compliance advisor to management and staff within region Portugal, providing guidance and trainings in compliance matters covered by the EMEA Programs. Regularly liaise with the Regional Corporate Governance and Risk Manager (RGM) and coordinate with company EMEA Headquarters certain EMEA projects as needed. Assist compliance management in designing and implementing compliance controls within our region, consistent with risk assessments and avoiding incoherencies or redundancies between the Programs, while creating or maximizing synergies. Conduct compliance training to employees, following a risk-based approach. Assist compliance management and leadership teams in promoting an organizational culture that encourages compliant behavior in the Region. Assist compliance management in activities supporting Transparency Reporting within the Region. As needed, manage, assist, and appropriately and clearly report to the EMEA and the Regional Compliance Officer any potential violations of applicable laws, rules and regulations, or internal policies and procedures covered by the Programs in the Region. As needed, assist compliance management with the investigation and documentation of allegations of potential violations of applicable laws, rules and regulations, and internal policies and procedures covered by the Programs in the Region. You will be Responsible for Whistleblower Hotline in our region. Assist compliance management in initiating and/or participating in risk assessments for the Programs within the Region. Act as Local Due Diligence Coordinator within the Region, supporting business owners in managing and monitoring Third Parties’ compliance. Assist compliance management in different projects, partnering together with other Compliance Managers, regionally or globally. Support in the implementation and management of data protection and security information obligations in your Region. Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations and data protection in your Region. Lead and manage general corporate obligations according to the Portuguese Law. Support mandatory legal actions and documentation such as, minutes, annual accounts, powers of attorney (etc). Support, review, modify, as well as ensure the expiration and/or renewal contracts with third parties / providers / SLA. Lead and coordinate different legal, compliance and data protection matters with the external law firms or authorities. Be able to professionally and diligently manage the budget allocated to your department. What you need to succeed Minimum of 5+ years’ work post-qualification experience in law firm or in-house, ideally in both. Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, or Diagnostics business exposure will be highly considered. Experience in compliance and risk management, as well with privacy laws and Portuguese regulations. Experience in stakeholder management across all levels of an organization and the ability to adequately communicate matters with high complexity to different stakeholder groups efficiently. Proficient in English.
