Surveillance Team

  • The main purpose of the Surveillance team is to monitor existing clients and their transaction flows as well as being responsible for reporting duties to relevant authorities. The team will work closely with the Underwriting team which is responsible for intake and CDD of new clients.
  • The team is part of the larger AML & Merchant Risk department, which is responsible for customer risk assessment from an AML/CFT perspective, sanction screening and PEP controls, CDD procedures, transaction screening, monitoring and reporting to FIU.

About the role

  • Due to rapid growth and our desire to maintain a high level of internal service, we are hiring a highly skillful and responsible person to carry out duties of an AML & Merchant risk Analyst in the Surveillance Team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for maintaining the duties of reporting and communicating with relevant FIUs and law enforcement bodies, investigating and monitoring financial activity and transactions from AML/CFT perspective and evaluating and taking necessary actions towards corporate and consumer customers in cases of suspicious activity.
  • Parallel to aforementioned responsibilities you will be required to take ownership of more complex cases all to be done in accordance with Trustly’s AML/CFT Programme and risk-based approach.

What you will do :

  • Be a go-to person for handling reporting responsibilities with relevant FIUs
  • Handling escalations from relevant law enforcement and FIU bodies
  • Handling internal and external escalations regarding suspicious activity
  • Investigate and monitor financial activity and transactions from a risk based perspective
  • Evaluating and taking necessary actions towards corporate and consumer customers involvement/actions towards suspicious activity
  • Work with large sets of data while having the flexibility to determine the best methods for data analysis. Maintaining internal records, KPIs
  • Conduct investigations using internal and external sources to independently verify and enrich information related to customers
  • Reflect discoveries, document key findings and rationale behind decisions
  • Escalate findings internally when necessary and take part in further discussions with internal or external stakeholders
  • Assist team members and other stakeholders by sharing expertise around activity monitoring
  • Participate in building a monitoring mechanism to meet the highest standard

Who you are :

  • 2+ years of experience working in AML/CFT/Fraud field(s) with experience in transaction monitoring/analysis and working with large sets of data
  • Solid data analytics skills (statistical analysts, mathematical modelling)
  • Strong analytical/investigative skills and ability to produce clear and concise reports
  • Good understanding of ML and FT typologies
  • Ability to make a rational decision considering relevant risks and take responsibility for such decisions
  • Highest ethical standards and ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail, natural curiosity and desire to drill down to the root of the matter
  • Highly organized and cooperative skills
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL or other variations of SQL is a plus
  • English language fluency is a must
