Our client is one of the most active and respected VC funds in Portugal. As an ambitious member of the investment team, candidates will play a crucial role in identifying investment opportunities, providing analysis, conducting screenings, and influencing the growth of portfolio companies. Based in Lisbon, the full-time team and Investment Committee of our client will rely on candidates to help steer the overall direction of their portfolio. Candidates will have the chance to interact with innovative founders from around the world, delve deep into market trends and financial models, and foster relationships with the impressive portfolio of over 50 startups. Responsibilities for the Investment Team Macro Role: Conducting extensive market research and analysis to pinpoint promising investment opportunities across various sectors. Engaging directly with founders and startups, evaluating their potential through due diligence processes, and collaborating with the team to develop and refine investment theses and strategies. Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact the investment focus. Participating in or leading negotiations and overseeing the investment process from beginning to end. Cultivating and maintaining relationships with current and potential startups. Actively supporting and assisting portfolio founders and teams. Generating insightful, data-driven reports on portfolio performance and investment activities. You could be the Principal, if you have: Previous work experience in investing (VC/PE), investment banking, or leadership/founder role in a tier 1 startup with exposure to tech-enabled topics. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, computer science, or a related field. Exceptional intellect – possessing speed, accuracy, strong logic, long-term orientation, and robust analytical skills to critically evaluate investment opportunities. Passion for the tech startup and VC industry, with a keen interest in emerging trends and disruptive innovations. Entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive, results-oriented approach, able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Fluency in English and Portuguese, from professional presentations to informal discussions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with team members, founders, and the broader VC ecosystem.
