Our success and sustainability are only made possible by continuing to develop our assets and technology through innovation and collaboration, and importantly through the development and diversity of our people who every day ‘Make Incredible things Happen’ At Subsea 7.Subsea 7 is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer for its office in Portugal.We are growing the Structural Engineering team in Lisbon office and therefore we are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to work on studies, tenders and projects in a variety of EPCI and Transport & Installation Contracts. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support discipline manager on different project and tendering activities (e.g. reports & calculations review, CTR & MDR definition, MTOs, preliminary design and others); Responsible for design activities: design calculations, specifications, reports and various 3rd party submissions; Monitor the progress of the project in terms of Structural Engineering packages controlling schedule, scope and budget identify potential road-blocks and raise the awareness to PEM and Discipline manager in case of any delays and deviations from budget; Supervise a structural team within a project/FEED/tender, following up activity progress and ensuring the document quality control and on time delivery; Responsible for ensuring the interface with relevant internal departments (project manager, operations, drafting office, supply chain management, among others) and manage different external and stakeholders (Subcontractors, relevant bodies and institutions of learning); Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed; Represent the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, Subcontractors, 3rd Parties etc., in a technical capacity; Perform specific calculation such as seafastening, installation aids and permanent structures design (ILTs, PLETs, Suction Anchors…); Ensure the proper close-out of the project: close out reports, collect and advertise lessons learned, measure consumed hours; Be a mentor/coach of more Junior Engineers. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Graduated with a M.Sc. / Ph.D. in civil (Structural), Mechanics or Marine/offshore Engineering; Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in structural design activities in the offshore (O&G or Renewable) industry Steel structure design, material strength, Naval architecture, piping design Knowledge of piping, connectors, valves and forgings and associated codes. Competency in design and analysis software packages for FEA (Abaqus, Ansys…) and Beam Elements (Staad Pro, SACS or similar) is essential; Good knowledge of design codes (AISC, API, ABS, BV, DNV, Eurocodes…); Ability to prioritize own and others’ workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of program or budget; Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization; Demonstrate commitment to HSE and Quality; Creativity in problem-solving; Good knowledge of written and spoken English; Ability to travel to onshore and offshore sites. PERSONAL SKILLS Strong analytical skills. Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working. Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc. The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision. The ability to organize and prioritize own work and as such have responsibility for discrete work packages ongoing simultaneously.
