The Role

Mercer is looking for talented and ambitious pensions consultants who are keen to further their career, focused on consulting with clients. This is an opportunity to join a great multi-disciplinary team based in Lisbon providing UK clients with leading edge advice across funding, investment, risk transfer and covenant. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication and project management skills, adaptability, business acumen and a desire to be in front of clients, all underpinned by the required technical skills.

This position will integrate the WAS Portugal Team (WAS -Wealth solutions, Advance Analytics and Sales Enablement).

  • As part of Mercer’s Wealth business, you are responsible for supporting your client team in delivering customised advice and solutions to UK clients (trustee and corporates) with a primary focus on DB pension schemes.
  • The majority of the base number crunching is carried out by specialist teams, which allows the consulting team to focus on solving our clients’ needs and adding value by developing innovative client solutions. We are looking for individuals who can bring that focus alongside an ability to think strategically, and who can provide advice to clients in a clear and concise manner.

We will count on you to :

  • Support your client team on project management, day-to-day client contact - managing and tracking ongoing actions for clients

  • Calculate and analyze special retirement projects

  • Support client managers with preparation for Trustee meetings: preparing and issuing supporting packs, production of draft minutes, and following up on the action points.

  • Undertake simple spreadsheet actuarial modelling and calculations, including individual calculations, regular updates, actuarial factors and accounting work. Liaise with with stakeholders and service providers to deliver a streamlined service to clients.

  • Be involved in ad-hoc project work as required, for example, risk management exercises, redundancy projects, etc

  • Act as a key point of contact for technical and scheme-specific queries received from clients, third parties and other Mercer businesses. What you need to have :

  • Bachelor/ Master’s degree in in Finance, Economics, Management, Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics or related field.

  • At least 2 years of pension related work experience.

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to prioritise and effectively manage a wide variety of ongoing tasks.

  • Ability to work independently to self-manage projects.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients. Comfortable dealing with clients contacts.

  • Advance Microsoft Office skills (in particular a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint). What makes you stand out :
