Job Location: Lisbon

As a Grid Development Specialist, you will be responsible for identifying grid-connection capacity (available and planned) and electro-intensive consumers (existing and planned). You will coordinate the entire grid-connection process with the TSO and the DSO, from the grid connection request to the commissioning of the plant. You will have to know the Portuguese grid-code and will follow all the connection aspects related to the Portuguese solar, wind and storage projects. You will be the reference person in Statkraft for the relations with the grid-operators. You will work with the project development team (solar, wind and storage) and the engineering team and report to the Head of Business Development for Portugal.

Your main activities and responsibilities will be:

  • Assess the electrical grid and follow up regulation and requirements of concern
  • Preparing, negotiating, closing and signing of grid conditions and connection agreements
  • Provide support on commercial connection agreements in Portugal
  • Evaluate the economic and technical feasibility of projects, including greenfield, co-development and M&A opportunities from the grid connection perspective
  • Work closely with the project development teams (solar, wind and storage) and with the engineering team
  • Manage, lead and coordinate shared connection agreements
  • Provide support for closing and signing of connection agreements
  • Perform grid studies and simulation for specific projects
  • Carrying out a cost/benefit analysis related to grid-connection processes (grid-reinforcements and electricity evacuation)
  • Develop market intelligence, commercial and regulatory analysis to support business development to the team in Portugal
  • Manage and coordinate with all project stakeholders, as well as relationships with government bodies at all levels, co-developers, TSO/DSO, landowners and consultants
  • Help managing engineering studies, environmental impact assessment and other technical staff in connection to the projects and the grid situation
  • Close cooperation with other units of the group and participate in team meetings of Statkraft worldwide on a regular basis

Qualifications :

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Solid experience in HV or MV grid connection practices in Portugal
  • Experience and sound understanding of the grid connection processes and Portuguese standards (grid-code)
  • Experience in using grid connection portals
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English
  • Flexibility, interdisciplinary teamwork skills and willingness to travel when needed
  • Proactive, self-motivated, result-oriented able to work without supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
